Come and give us a try for two or three rehearsals – you won’t be asked for subs until you are sure.

Most people would refer to our music as "classical music".  We sing the great oratorios (Messiah, Dream of Gerontius, Elijah) and major sacred works (Mozart Requiem, St John Passion, Missa Solemnis), but we also sing many smaller scale or shorter pieces by composers from all periods, from Byrd and Tallis through to Panufnik and Bedford.  Details of works performed in recent seasons are listed in the Archive.

No – you can join at any time, but you may feel that you cannot sing in a concert if you have joined part way through the rehearsal schedule.  If you join part way through the season your subscription for the remainder of the season will be adjusted accordingly.

No – it helps; a number of the choir members are good sight readers and you will find that with their help your reading will improve after a while

You bet! Andrew’s rehearsals are fast, furious and fun.

Of course, many of the singers joined with no formal training in music or singing.  If you are prepared to put a bit of effort into learning the score and blending with your part, then you will find singing with the Waltham Singers is a very satisfying experience.

For concerts the women wear black ankle length skirt or trousers, black long-sleeved tee shirt with round neck and a blue uniform scarf that can be purchased from the choir.  The men wear a black shirt and black trousers.  All members require a black music folder for concerts.
